Leslie Mason is the owner, sole proprietor, and creative talent behind Natural Glass Studio. Leslie lives and works in beautiful Bellingham, WA.
Leslie was born in Mt. Kisco, New York and grew up in Sherman Oaks--a suburb of Los Angeles, California. She attended a Waldorf School until ninth grade and attributes a lot of her immersion in art and nature to that experience. Leslie graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a degree in painting and drawing. A stained glass course at Pepperdine University set her in the direction of glass work and subsequent workshops helped her refine her technique. Her educational background has given her the ability to do all of her own design work.
Leslie moved to the state of Washington in 1975 and enjoys creating windows inspired by the land and seascapes that surround her. Artistic inspiration for her windows come from John LaFarge. After seeing one of his windows at the Seattle Art Museum she was introduced to the technique of layered windows. She experimented with this technique and was able to create a variety of beautiful effects. Leslie has experience in restoration work, including a large job done for Christ Episcopal Church in Blaine, Washington. The job involved re-leading and repairing twenty old windows. In the years since she has redone various windows through the church, including an extended series featuring landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. While restoration work is something Leslie enjoys, as she feels it is wonderful to take an old ruined window and bring it back to its original beauty, designing and making new windows is her favorite. Here she can use her educational background to its fullest advantage in designing windows for her customers.
